Mothers deserve to be well.
Planning a pregnancy, becoming pregnant, giving birth, and becoming a parent can all be uniquely challenging and psychologically or emotionally intense. Often, people experience anxiety or depression for the first time as they navigate it all. Some have already struggled with psychological difficulties and want to make sure they are taking extra care of themselves throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Statistically, 15 percent of women will experience a Perinatal Mood or Anxiety Disorder (PMAD), which means they will feel clinical levels of anxiety or depression.
As you can see, there are many reasons to seek mental health support in the perinatal period. From becoming pregnant, through pregnancy, postpartum, and into parenthood, we face many challenges and deserve a space to invest in our own wellbeing.
